20th Annual Kensington Festival Of Lights Needs Cycle-Marshalls!

Submitted by yvonne on 11 December, 2009 - 16:02

Kensington Festival of Lights needs Cycle-Marshalls!

Check out this message from Andy Moro, Festival of Lights Co-Director.  I'll be helping out and hope you can join me for what will no doubt be a fun and fire filled evening on the longest night of the year...

Email Andrew Moro <redpepper.spectacle@sympatico.ca> if you are interested in taking part, and cc: yvonne@bikeunion.to.

Dear Fearless Riders:

The 20th Annual Festival of Lights in Kensington Market approaches. We need your help to make the event run smoothly for the thousands of Solstice revelers who make this event a tradition. As you probably know, the event consist primarily of a procession through the Market...plus samba, stilts, theatrics and fire.

You can help by being a mobile barricade (with a personality) to keep people from becoming overwhelmed by their moth-like attraction to heat on the longest darkest night of the year!! We have a new route and finale location so we really need to ensure that the crowds are directed and protected.

You get a fancy tall fluorescent hat and a vest to wear and you will be fully briefed (instructions, not long-johns, that's up to you) - and best of all you are guaranteed front row for all the good stuff! Plus, there's soup. Your committment would involve a production meeting on Sunday Dec. 20th at 5pm and the event is on Monday the 21st starting at 6pm until about 7:30. The meeting and convening point will be the amenities space in the Kensington Lofts - 21 Nassau. Please feel free to contact me directly for more info, or check our website at www.redpepperspectaclearts.org for the down-low on the Festival itself.

We thank the great Yvonne Bambrick for helping us to coordinate this element of what promises to be the biggest and best Festival of Lights yet...and we thank you for your time in considering and hopefully offering your support.

Respectfully,
Andy Moro, Co-Director Red Pepper Spectacle Arts and the Festival of Lights
