Ward 16: Eglinton-Lawrence

You need to join a ward group to see all the updates. You can still see all public ward updates and events.

Ward 16 has a number of signed bike routes on its grid of residential streets.

The Bike Plan for Ward 16

Ward 16 has very few bike lanes proposed for it in the Toronto Bike Plan.

The Bike Plan intends for cyclists to travel on the grid of residential streets.  Most of the Bike Plan's routes are simply Signed Roads, which have already been signed. There is, however, a bike lane planned for Lawrence from Yonge St. almost to Avenue Rd.  There is also a short stretch of bike lane planned for Wilson Ave.

Challenges for Cyclists

The major challenge in Ward 16 is the crossing of the 401 Expressway.  Yonge Street has an unofficial pathway just east of the interchange.  Avenue Road at the 401 is especially unwelcoming.

Many cyclists ride on the major arterials, since these roads are the most useful and continue beyond the ward.  Heavy, high speed traffic can be a great deterent on the arterials.
